Yi Ren® Qigong
Balance and Harmony Daily stresses, the foods we eat/crave, and the repeated trigger of our fight or flight system make it a challenge to maintain balance and harmony in our bodies and lives. This protocol developed by Dr. Guan-Cheng Sun, Ph.D. for blood sugar management gives us self management tools to deal with these challenges. Through gentle movements, we will learn to reconnect with our body’s inherent knowledge which guides us to make better choices creating a more relaxed, empowered, balanced life. |
Private Sessions
I am only offering private lessons at this time. Depending upon your experience and consistency of practice, we can complete a basic practice instruction in 4-5 sessions. Lessons are reviewed each session and new practices are added, deepening your practice and increasing your internal cultivation. After completing the sessions and regular practice, you will have the knowledge and information to practice on your own at home. |

Qigong (also spelled Ch'i Kung) (pronounced chee – gong) is a powerful system of healing and energy medicine from China. It is the art and science of using breathing techniques, gentle movement, and focused intention to cleanse, strengthen, and circulate the life energy (qi). Qigong practice leads to better health and vitality and a tranquil state of mind. It compliments and enhances your current healthcare treatments and self-care routines. Although qigong is often confused with martial arts or tai chi, qigong is usually much slower and focuses on the "qi" aspect to a much greater degree.
Yi Ren® Qigong is the practice of cultivating our inherent potential and well-being through a growing awareness of Qi, the energy-information field within us, as well as surrounding us. In Chinese, the character "Yi"(易)means change. The character "Ren"(人)means human. With Yi Ren Qigong studies and practice, we become increasingly aware of energy flow interactions in our physical body and in our environment. The result of regular Qigong practice is a peaceful mind, healthy invigorated body, and calm spirit, that is capable of dealing with daily stresses and dis-ease. The gentle, rhythmic movements reduce stress, build stamina, and enhance the immune system. It has also been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic and digestive functions.

Frequently asked questions:
Is Qigong like Tai Chi?
Tai Chi is a form of Qigong. They both focus on breathing and intention, but Qigong is more focused on the interaction with the Qi (Chi), life force energy, Tai Chi can be more form oriented.
Do I have to be in good physical shape to practice Qigong?
Anyone can practice Qigong. It can be done standing, sitting, or if your physical condition requires, even lying in bed.
How long and how often do I need to practice to see benefits?
The real key is that you must practice to get any benefit. So if all you have in the beginning is 10 minutes a day or every other day then do that. It is better than nothing at all. It is ideal to practice about 45 minutes daily, but most of us don’t take that kind of time to focus on ourselves. I have found benefit from 20 - 30 minutes 4-5 times per week, but when I started out I did what I could and increased time as I went along.
Can I do Qigong along with my Yoga or other daily practices?
Yes definitely! Qigong is supportive and enhancing to yoga, meditation, Tai Chi, or any other healthcare practice.
What should I wear/bring to class?
Wear loose comfortable clothes and shoes. Please only non-scuffing soles on the shoes. Some people appreciate having a bottle of water during class.
Please feel free to contact me with any other questions.
